With an old passion and commitment through 30 years in studying and collecting Albanian Flag, Mr. Shpëtim Sala, Honorary President of QMKSH had to much to offer for the public of Vlora.
“I would like to stress that the accomplishment of this exhibition is a result of what the collectors in a democratic society can realize. The ancient history of Albanian nation is accompanied by the symbol of the eagle, of this bird of space, power and freedom. The nation hero Gjergj Kastrioti, leaded, won and triumphed in numerous battles against the ottomans invaders, holding in the forefront of the Albanian warriors the red flag with the black double-headed eagle, that was became the symbol of the honor bravery and freedom. Thousand Albanian warriors, who died in the century wars for freedom, were honored and covered with the black-red flag. In four centuries of the ottoman slavery the black-red flag with the double-headed eagle survived five centuries of rule. It has lived in the culture of Albanians, inherited generation after generation in stories, tales, legends and myths, graven in the child cradle, in front of fire-places, in vests of men and women, on carpets, in the arks where brides have kept their clothes, in the weapons, and above all graven to be not quenched in the consequence of the Albanian nation.”
